  2. Hi Paul, just stumbled on this one while trying to identify some other Asilidae ... pretty sure this is _not_ Machimus arthriticus (that species doesn't have the downward "flap" on the genitalia clearly seen in your image).
    I don't do Diptera much, so I may well be wrong, but my estimate for your picture (excellent as always!) would be Eutolmus rufibarbis, but you may want to check with someone more knowledgeable on these.
