A male Giraffe Beetle in Ranomafana peeks over the edge of a leaf during the winter season. Due to the season, their wings are too cold to fly, which was good news for us :)
Where it seems this weevil is looking to the forest floor, likely it is looking for the female, as we found three males and one female in close proximity.
The giraffe weevil is a weevil endemic to Madagascar. It derives its name from an extended neck much like that of the common giraffe.
