  I'm afraid he/she was very recently deceased.... I doubt I'd have been able to capture such a nice detail otherwise. I don't know what happened, though perhaps I may have interrupted a bird of prey. They aren't uncommon - there are mole holes/hills all over the place, though I do think it's fairly rare to see them live above ground. Posted 5 years ago

Reminds me that I heard or read somewhere that the only moles one sees above ground are dead ones. Even those cute images of them poking up from their holes. I wonder. I really enjoyed seeing this close detail though. Now that is a foot fit for digging. Ready for some hard yakka! Posted 5 years ago
