  1. Bonjour Paul, it looks like this beetle is more likely part of Sitonini tribe rather than Brachyderini.
    Please have a look on this web page https://www.biolib.cz/en/image/id155016/ where Strophosoma capitatum is shown in 3D.

      1. Actually, I think that I'm wrong in suggesting Sitonini as well, eyes and antennas don't match.
        Do you have a top view to help?

          1. Looks like a Brachyderes to me, will see if I can get to species ...
            P.S. No, scratch that ... too quick ...
            Hmmpffff ... okay, back at Brachyderes after all (didn't see the hair/bristle at the top of the hind tibia that it should have) - should be Brachyderes incanus imho.

Brachyderes incanus, or the Grey Pine Weevil is a broad-nosed weevil (Entiminae) associated with Pine forests in Europe. It is an adventive species in North America.
