    1. Thanks Ferdy, we spotted it just after emerging from the old nymphal skin (top left) and the whole process of pumping up the wings took less than ten minutes. The shot bottom left is half an hour later and the two coloured shots bottom right are about nine hours later (I put it in a box after the pumping process to document that). So it's about ten minutes of shooting and half an hour or so of selecting and composing the images into the collage. Not too bad an effort ;o) Posted 5 years ago

The Bird cherry-oat aphid is an aphid in the superfamily Aphidoidea in the order Hemiptera. It is a true bug and sucks sap from plants. It is often considered as a major pest in cereals in temperate cereal crops, and particularly in some Northern European countries.
