        I think I understand where the confusion comes from. This is a fungus, specifically a lichen. Which in dutch we call a "korstmos". Yet the "moss" part of that word is not a true moss, as in being a plant.

        So it may be a true korstmos (lichen, fungi), yet not a true moss (plant). Hope this makes sense :)
