Passerini's Tanager, ''Ramphocelus passerinii'', is a medium-sized passerine bird. This tanager is a resident breeder in the Caribbean lowlands from southern Mexico to western Panama. As for which species of Ramphocelus this is, I'm leaning towards Passerini's. Cherrie's tanager is very similar, though I'd expect a female of the latter to be more brightly colored.
Where was this taken in Costa Rica? Passerini's is found on the Caribbean slope, while Cherrie's is restricted to the Pacific side. Posted 7 years ago
