    1. Not really Ferdy - I had to remove some moss from our lawn and they've been right under that. There have been quite a lot of them :) And yes, I put it back where it belongs - into the soil.

The cockchafer, colloquially called May bug or doodlebug, is a European beetle of the genus Melolontha, in the family Melolonthidae. Some authors would place the Melolonthidae as a subfamily Melolonthinae of the family Scarabaeidae.
