    1. It's a different camera that I bought cheap and have a somewhat less powerful "macro filter" on, so I have a "ready to grab" set for huge critters, but I'm still fighting with the settings (don't seem to get a "no flash" setup working with enough speed and DOF), so I assume I'll need to tinker with the flashy thingy to get better light from that (soft box or the like) ... The downy emerald is a species of dragonfly. It is metallic green and bronze in color, and its thorax is coated with fine hairs, hence its name. Like most other emeralds, the downy emerald has bright shiny green eyes. Adults are around 5 cm in length, and are in flight from May through July each year.
