Pardosa saltans - male macro 1, Heeswijk-Dinther, Netherlands

A few 5:1 macro shots of the male of Pardosa saltans. I took one home from a hike where they were running around on the forest floor in large numbers. I sacrificed it.

Although I'm still not 100% satisfied with technical quality, I think the subject itself is super cool at this magnification. It has a great horror factor. In particular the eyes lack any expression, like glass domes with nothing behind it.

Try to imagine being its prey, and this running at you. You wouldn't notice the running itself as these are very fast spiders.
