The black-capped hemispingus is a species of bird in the Thraupidae family. It is found in the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. The Peruvian form is sometimes treated as a separate species, the white-browed hemispingus.
