    1. Thanks :). I've heard the frozen rivers referred to as “river sleeping bags" for aquatic invertebrates because the ice provides insulation, while the water provides further insulation, and the streambed gives off geothermal heat. BUT, it's still just barely above freezing under the ice...not a place I'd want to live. I would be the whiniest aquatic insect in the stream. Posted 5 years ago
