Winding Mantleslug - Philomycus flexuolaris Sorry for the glare! This slug had such a gorgeous pattern...It was tan with darker brown, mottled spots, which came together to form 3 indistinct bands (middle and one on each side).

Habitat: Under loose bark in an upland, hardwood forest.

Fun Fact: These slugs use love darts. Prior to copulation, each of the slugs attempts to "shoot" their partner with a dart. There is no organ to receive the dart and it has nothing to do with sperm transfer; rather, this action is more analogous to a stabbing/being shot with an arrow.
