      Thanks! They usually freeze when spotted. Sometimes, they will halfheartedly hide and peek out at me. They are curious, and it's super cute.

      "hiding":
      Northern Water Snake - Nerodia sipedon This snake thought for sure that it had the perfect hiding spot! I spotted it basking in the sun on the side of a pond. When it saw me, it slithered over to the edge of the water so that it could both hide from and watch me.<br /> <br /> Its dorsum was strongly keeled and was a dark grayish color.           Yes, they do! I love these snakes. They will often let me get within a foot or so of them so we can check each other out better. Posted 5 years ago
