  1. It's a DYC - damned yellow composite (family Asteraceae) ;) Posted 12 years ago
    1. Hehe thanks! Posted 12 years ago
      1. Yep... I was trying to identify it among the many yellow daisies, so when checking the Asteraceae page I found this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damned_yellow_composite
        Then I gave up...

      1. I'm sorry to dissapoint you, Ferdy, but I am not convinced it is correct.

        1. For sure I lack the knowledge to confirm, but it should be noted that this one was captured in a botanical garden that had more species not native to Madagascar, so distribution is not necessarily the answer in this case. I found the visual match provided by Ragisha to be quite strong. It may not be a final verdict, but to keep it as a partial ID is fine by me, until somebody has a definitive answer. 1. Assuming this is a non native species, it could be anything. Nobody can give a definitive answer though, unless you post more photos showing the plant habit, leaves etc. - all the characteristics described and demonstrated on the site Ragisha has provided. Posted 11 years ago
    2. The flower looks very much alike, but that is not enough, I'm afraid. If the other characteristics match, it could be a closely related species, but you also have to consider the distribution range. This one was found in Madagascar, while the one you are suggesting is native to the USA.

In fact the whole genus Coreopsis is native to the Americas
