  1. WOW! That's awesome. I've read that they are really difficult to spot in the wild. Posted 5 years ago, modified 5 years ago
    1. Ok, I'm confused. A tapir is like 2m high and weighs 400kg. So this is a toy, right? Posted 5 years ago
      1. I think those are the adults Ferdy, I know the young start stripey/spotty but this was on the Osa peninsula and it is a tapir so it's a juvenile (I assume) - ?-}) - Scale to table about 60/70 cms long & 30 cms high - unless I've found a new mammal?? It could only be that, I think - Definitely a living breathing mammal Posted 5 years ago
        1. So it is real? Sorry to have doubted that. Something about the photo messes with my mind. It looks a bit smooth, plastic-like, like a toy. And it seems like a fully "complete" animal shrunk to 30cm to me. Posted 5 years ago
          1. Yes, I was actually taking a couple of photos of the auberge at the lodge and this happened to be in the corner and then it was gone in the next one. Didn't notice it till later :¬) Posted 5 years ago
    2. Yes, we never saw one in the "wild", although we were in rain forest with just a bamboo room (worked well with a big earthquake) Posted 5 years ago
