  1. Beautiful, graceful but also slightly aggressive species, these romantic white biggies. Once I was up close photographing a swan with a 15-85 lens as it crawled out of the water. I was down on my knees, quietly watching though my viewfinder. Then it suddenly ran a few steps and strechted its neck, pecking once on my brand new b+w polariser, its force shocking my grip. Wow, that surprised me:) Only an infinitesimally small scratch and a good memory as a keeper.

  2. Love the photo but wow, that must have been a scary moment! Lucky for you you had a filter on and it didn't damage your lens. I wasn't going to go with a UV filter on my new lens...but after that story I am glad I did! Plus I shall be sticking to a long lens with these guys!!! Posted 12 years ago

The mute swan is a species of swan and a member of the waterfowl family Anatidae. It is native to much of Europe and Asia, and the far north of Africa. It is an introduced species in North America, Australasia and southern Africa.
