  1. Deb, great shot! I always think, no pun intended here!, the simple compositions are the most powerful. A humble fence, a bird even more so, hopping along, not aware of the attention it draws. Only small drawback in this shot is the plastic pipe thingy at the right, just behind the fence. Well shot! Posted 12 years ago

The dark-eyed junco is a species of junco, a group of small, grayish New World sparrows. This bird is common across much of temperate North America and in summer ranges far into the Arctic. It is a very variable species, much like the related fox sparrow, and its systematics are still not completely untangled.
