  1. I'm wondering, did you go into areas with a wishlist, or using the "I'll take anything I'll see" as an approach? Posted 5 years ago
  2. As this was our first time there we got our excursion planned with the scope "as much as possible", that is wishlist "all" ex those we saw already in other countries. Obviously our excellent guide did very seriously focus on the "important" ones per region (endemics, near-endemics), all those difficult-to-get-ones. Frankly this approach was quite exhausting. How I'd love to shot on some well-positioned, patiently posing, nicely coloured birds! And we did this for rewards :)
But much time we passed staring into the scrub, below the trees, following with pointer, binoculars and longlense some greyish shy rapidly by-passing shadows ...

The dusky-capped flycatcher is a passerine bird in the tyrant flycatcher family. It breeds in forest and other woodland from southern Arizona, as well as the Chisos Mountains, Texas, south to northern Argentina and on Trinidad. It is resident in most of its range, but American breeders retreat to Mexico in winter. This species is insectivorous and catches its prey by flycatching amongst the middle branches of trees. Fruits such as from gumbo-limbo , and less frequently from ''Cymbopetalum mayanum''.. more
