    1. This fish was a very welcomed surprise while seeking out Buffalo Darters! They're pretty rare, and there really aren't many pictures of them floating around. Posted 5 years ago
      1. That makes me even more grateful that you're willing to share them here. I regularly visit your profile just to admire all those beauties side by side. Posted 5 years ago
        1. I have boatloads of photos I still need to edit, so i'm very happy you enjoy them!' Posted 5 years ago
          1. I do, and we do! So by all means...don't hold back :) Posted 5 years ago
          2. Me too - I try to get pictures of freshwater fish I see and identify and it is REALLY difficult, so your photos are a real contribution. Posted 5 years ago
        2. Ferdy, I consulted with a few people in Tennessee and we figured out the true identity of this fish! This clade is tricky, but it's actually an Egg Mimic Darter (Etheostoma pseudovulatum). How do I go about changing the I.D.? Posted 5 years ago
          1. Thank you for being so accurate in chasing the ID. For now I've made the change for you, but here are self service instructions for next time:

            - in the species box, there's a red "X" button, this one removes the identification from the photo.
            - next, just identify as you did the first time

That's the main task. Next, there's some cleanup tasks to do typically. You may still have the old species name in your title, description, tags. If so, these need to be changed manually.

            Hope this helps?

The egg-mimic darter is a species of darter endemic to the eastern United States, where it is only known from the Duck River drainage of Tennessee. It inhabits creeks and headwaters, living in pools with very slow current. This species can reach a length of 6.1 cm . The fish's common name refers to round, fish egg-like yellow knobs projecting from its second dorsal fin.
