  1. A cute little furnariid, which I already knew from Colombia, but this was my first decent photo of it. They're essentially like miniature woodcreepers, though they lack the specialized tail feathers, and instead of climbing to the top of a tree before gliding down to the base of the next, they stay within two meters of the ground, usually hidden in deep gloom and dense undergrowth. Still, this one was friendly enough to pose for a second by the side of the path :) Posted 5 years ago, modified 5 years ago

The spotted barbtail is a species of bird in the Furnariidae family. It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
