Found this one while working in the garden on April 13th - quite late to still be a larva as the first beetles have already been seen flying around (not here though).

The cockchafer, colloquially called May bug or doodlebug, is a European beetle of the genus Melolontha, in the family Melolonthidae. Some authors would place the Melolonthidae as a subfamily Melolonthinae of the family Scarabaeidae.
