The grass-green tanager is a small passerine bird, one of the tanager family. It is the only member of the genus ''Chloronis''. The grass-green tanager is 20 cm in length and weighs 53g. It lives in and around subtropical and temperate forests in the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru at elevations of 1500–3350 m.

As for that earlier image, I can relate so much to white sky back-light in the tropics, it has ruined so many of my shots. Being on the good side of the light makes such a huge difference. That and being an incredible birder and photographer like yourself. Posted 5 years ago
Haha thanks for your compliment, in this case it was just luck and persistence, as it took a week of seeing 2 or 3 of these guys before I finally got a good opportunity, with a bird feeding on the edge of a landslide just below me. Posted 5 years ago
