
Fall Field Cricket - Gryllus pennsylvanicus
Sorry for the horrible photo, but this cricket had a long trail of goo and eggs coming out of its rear end. It was moving around too quickly for me to get a clear shot, but I think it was trying to lay eggs? But, it didn't look like it was only eggs coming out.
Habitat: Rural backyard

"Gryllus pennsylvanicus" is known as the fall field cricket. It is common in southern Ontario, is widespread across much of North America and can be found even into parts of northern Mexico. It tends to be absent in most of the southwestern United States including southern California.
