Native to eastern and southern South Africa, this plant does very well here in Australia with its similar environs and weather... it is regarded as an environmental weed in Western Australia and as a potential environmental weed here in New South Wales.
It is a rhizomatous, evergreen perennial producing large iris-like flowers at the ends of tall, thin stalks. Leaves are upright, stiff and sword-like.
