  1. Large spiders creep me out so much, especially in or near the house. Nevertheless, very nice specie introduction! Promoted to homepage. Posted 12 years ago
  2. In a homely environment spiders look amazingly frightning to me. And I am a kind of local hero over here (just kidding, spiders creep me out:)) The contrast with the pebbles, but especially the woodwork and broom only enhance the unhomely feeling. Well done, excellent shot. Crisp too! And a nice camera btw. Lens 70-200 f4 USM? Nice again:) Posted 12 years ago

The Common rain spider , formerly ''P. natalius'', is a species of huntsman spider native to Southern Africa. It is the most common and widespread species in the ''Palystes'' genus. Its distribution ranges from KwaZulu-Natal province in the east, then westwards to the provinces of Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West in the north, and Eastern Cape and Western Cape in the south. It has a body length of 25–30 mm. The species was first described by Ludwig Carl Christian Koch in 1875.
