Admiralty Cuscus- Male
The Admiralty Cuscus or Manus Island Cuscus is only found on Manus Island. Spilocuscus Kraemeri. This species is considered near-threatened due to loss of habitat and consumption. They are regularly eaten and 3 weeks ago this guy was hanging in a bag near a fire waiting to be dinner. He was rescued and being treated for his injuries.
The male is white and spotted and the female is dark brown with white on the belly. All Cuscus are marsupials and also have a no fur on the tip of their tail. They are shy but friendly and like to curl up in a safe place.
The Admiralty Island cuscus or Manus Island spotted cuscus is a species of marsupial in the family Phalangeridae. It is endemic to the Admiralty Islands of Papua New Guinea. It is the smallest member of the genus ''Spilocuscus'', and the female has a black back, while the male has blackish spots on a white background. Both genders have rufous heads.
