  1. Howdy, without being able to confirm the ID, I have added the species to the JD system, so you may identify your photo as such now :o) Cheers, Arp Posted 5 years ago
    1. Thanks for that.
I am very familiar with this species having a healthy population living in my garden and this whole area in general. They make a really nice looking trap-door that can be very difficult to find as they camouflage so well.
Very common to find them after a rain event but usually drowned in my bird bath which is of course rather sad - I dropped a rock in yesterday for any spiders to climb onto, and none found this morning.

      1. Howdy, always nice to have some impressive critters around, even if they might startle you when not expected. I used to have a large house spider that would drop of the cupboard smack on the middle of my keyboard in the middle of the night (did that at least 3 times - maybe attracted by the illuminated keys?).
BTW I wasn't doubting your ID, but merely noting that I'm not fit enough with these to confirm it :o)
At the end of the species description page I have linked a document by Harrison et al. (2018) that includes the description of various new species, not sure if you are aware of that, but if you weren't it may proof interesting to double check against the new species descriptions - I'm sure the authors would like to know if you have one of those in your garden as they have very little distribution data for the new ones so far.
        Cheers, Arp
P.S. If you can't access the document drop me a note
