  1. Valuable species intro! Any bird starting with ant is a win. Posted 5 years ago
    1. Thanks Ferdy, I see that you like a good antbird and such!! Posted 5 years ago
      1. Yeah, it spreads. Have you read the book "the jewel hunter" by any chance? It's about antpittas, but it gives a wonderful insight into how hard and rewarding it is to see difficult birds. Posted 5 years ago
        1. No haven't read that - sounds fascinating - but I do understand the thrill and the frustration of looking for "LBJs" - Little Brown Jobbies sometimes. Definitely there's the thrill of the chase but, it's generally time that is the precious commodity. Posted 5 years ago
          1. Direct message me your address and I will gift you that book, how's that? Posted 5 years ago
            1. That's very, very kind Ferdy, I will Posted 5 years ago

        2. I saw my first Antpitta a few weeks ago in Ecuador. They feed it every morning at San Isidro Lodge - and still, there we were, all 12 of us in a small clearing in a jungle trail with space for about 5, waiting, and waiting - it was quite comical really. Finally the Antpitta showed, took one look at the mob crammed into the clearing and disappeared! I will definitely check out the book The Jewel Hunter. Posted 5 years ago, modified 5 years ago
          1. It's the ultimate antpitta adventure, trying to see all of them. The writing is also very comical, well recommended! Posted 5 years ago
    2. Totally agree Posted 5 years ago
