  1. Here's another canastero, as JD doesn't seem to have many photos of these Andean cuties. This one is quite widespread in Argentina and Chile, but seen here at the northern extreme of its range, where a pair had claimed a freshly plowed field as their territory. The cordilleran canastero is a species of bird in the Furnariidae family. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru. Its natural habitats are temperate grassland and subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland.
