    1. I know this one mainly from the edge of desert - not the extreme arid, but semi-arid.
      according to Kew's plants of the world online site, it grows in the Middle East, North Africa and South Europe - so I guess it can live in other places as well

Papaver hybridum, The sad poppy, is a boreal flowering plant belonging to the family Papaveraceae. It is native to Europe and spread across the continent, north to Norway.
