Souimanga sunbird (male), Ivoloina park,Madagascar
Resisting my usual urge to crop, just to show how this tiny sunbird (foreground, middle) is dwarfed by the Traveler Palm in the background.
This is the first photo of a male on JungleDragon, which even from this distance is unmistakable. If you zoom in closely enough, you'll see a metallic green head, metallic blue chest, followed by a red band. This combination sets the species apart from other sun birds.

The souimanga sunbird is a small passerine bird of the sunbird family, Nectariniidae. It is native to the islands of the western Indian Ocean where it occurs on Madagascar, the Aldabra Group and the Glorioso Islands.
