
Deceptive Milky - Lactifluus deceptivus
Cap was depressed, vase-shaped, and had some brown discoloration/patches. Gills were attached, close/crowded, white with lots of discoloration. The stem was white with brown discoloration. The milk was white.
Habitat: Growing on the ground in a mixed forest with mostly oak, pine, and eastern hemlock.

"Lactifluus deceptivus" is a common species of fungus in the Russulaceae family. It is found throughout eastern North America on the ground in coniferous forests near hemlock or deciduous forests near oak, and in oak-dominated forests of Costa Rica.
