Maryland Wild Senna (Senna marilandica) A group of these lovely plants was in bloom on a dirt roadside, near the edge of a dense mixed forest and a seasonal stream. It was hard to miss the spires of bright yellow flowers! This is the first year I have seen these flowers since we have moved here, so I was so happy!<br />

  1. Nice find! Is this the species with the really strong scent when leaves/flowers are crushed? Posted 5 years ago
    1. Not that I'm aware of. They smell pleasant but I wouldn't say they are strong. Posted 5 years ago
      1. Hmm. Well, most scents are strong to me, lol. I'll have to try to figure out what I'm talking about and get back to you ;P. Posted 5 years ago

"The crushed foliage is aromatic when crushed, scent is described by some as unpleasant."
