Bald Eagle - Haliaeetus leucocephalus
Meet Aurora. She's a female bald eagle that had been hit by a truck in Missouri. Afterwards, she was found wading in the Mississippi River by boaters. The wildlife police rescued her and she was sent to rehabilitation. She suffered from radius, ulna, and metacarpal fractures, which make it impossible for her to extend her left wing and fly. So, she is sadly not releasable. Aurora now lives in Connecticut where she is an educational ambassador for Christine’s Critters, which is a non-profit group that rehabilitates birds of prey.

The bald eagle is a bird of prey found in North America. A sea eagle, it has two known subspecies and forms a species pair with the white-tailed eagle, which occupies the same niche as the bald eagle in the Palearctic. Its range includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States, and northern Mexico.
