How Dunes Form For me Namibia's Skeleton Coast is one of the most special regions in the world. The combination of endemic wildlife, fantastic desert scenery and the cold wild Benguela Current flowing up the coast make for a most unique area. This dark plain with is accumulation of miniature bright yellow dunes which collect around small bushes seems like from another world. To stand there and to listen to the wind while gazing across the vastness has been a special moment and I can just see it in my mind how the dunes grow and grow over time to form a sea of sand. 1. That's quite a unique sight. On a documentary I learned that it can takes hundreds if not thousands of years for dunes to form, yet I never seen them in such an "early" stage. Posted 14 years ago
