    1. Thanks Ferdy, the two of'em were quite tame/docile but somehow constantly approaching with the sun in the back, making for a black blob bird on any photo ... one of the rare moments with some light from a more useful angle ;o) Posted 5 years ago
      1. Ah yes, together with sunsets and snow scenes, Ravens and similar black birds are the poster child example of exposure failures when using automatic exposure.

        This exposure is very classy, it doesn't compensate for the birds darkness yet has dramatic highlights in the right parts. Well done.

The Common Raven, also known as the Northern Raven, is a large, all-black passerine bird. Found across the northern hemisphere, it is the most widely distributed of all corvids. It is one of the two largest corvids, alongside the Thick-billed Raven, and is possibly the heaviest passerine bird; at maturity, the Common Raven averages 63 cm in length and 1.2 kg.
