    1. Red algae is VERY hardy. It can survive high UV exposure, extreme salt exposure, and wild temperature fluctuations. It's amazing stuff. Apparently, it's also super high in protein and other nutrients. I'm not a big fan of seaweed though and only eat it with sushi or in soup. Otherwise, I find most of it pretty gross. A small red alga (up to 20 cm across) with an irregularly shaped, broad frond that is membranous but tough. The plant attaches to rock via a minute discoid hold-fast, is greenish when young becoming purplish-red and has a polythene-like texture.
