  1. Nice, our 10th Jacamar! Posted 5 years ago
    1. Oh good, so past 1/2 way now :>) Posted 5 years ago
      1. Yes, you have to go back, soon.

Fun fact: at JungleDragon, birds and moths/butterflies constantly compete for being the most numerous:

        https://www.jungledragon.com/wildlife/browse/animalia/arthropoda/insecta/lepidoptera

Birds continue to win, yet moths are growing faster than moths.

        1. Fascinating - butterflies & moths take catching - that's not to say birds don't, maybe it's a better appreciation of "nature" as a whole?? Posted 5 years ago
          1. With "take catching" you mean they are difficult to photograph because they're nervous? True for butterflies, yet moths are easily lured. Maybe you've seen this already but only in 2018 we got totally hooked on mothing, where before I hardly paid attention to it.

A cloth and some light in Colombia was all it took. There were so many moths that we could hardly breath without swallowing one.

It's so much fun. So many species and pretty easy to photograph, as most are calm. Diversity and beauty is crazy. Given your choice of locations, I wonder if this would be something of your interest too?

            1. Yes - to the difficult to photograph Ferdy & no I hadn't seen that album - absolutely stunning - you must be very happy with & proud of, it - I think I'll be trying this definitely. Thanks Posted 5 years ago
              1. Great that you're considering it. Can't emphasize enough how easy it is if you're in the right location and conditions. Super addictive new hobby, especially your wife will love it as you spend a few hundred hours identifying them afterwards :) Posted 5 years ago
                1. I could get hooked on that although the mosquitos etc. think I'm the greatest feast going - Deet can melt bits of your camera, but it just calls the mosquitos in to me. :¬) Posted 5 years ago
