    Also read that wildlife eat the nuts, are they also edible for people?

    1. Butternut canker (fungus) has killed at least 80% of the butternut trees. They are edible for humans and taste like a normal walnut, but better (in my opinion). I didn't put the correct geotag on this spotting because people hunt these trees down and then overharvest the nuts. Posted 5 years ago
