Fenestraria succulent in flower Native to Namibia, Fenestraria rhopalophylla is the only species currently recognised in this genus Fenestraria.  Each leaf has an epidermal window - a transparent window-like area at its rounded tip and it is for these window-like structures that the genus is named.<br />

This plant grows in areas with sandy soils in very dry areas with winter-rainfall of only 100 mm or less. In the wild, they grow mostly buried by sand and the transparent fenestrate leaf tips are often above the sand and allow light into the leaves for photosynthesis.<br />

This is sub species F.  rhopalophylla  aurantiaca.<br />
