  1. Are Koalas endangered? Posted 12 years ago
    1. Hi Scott, see my answer below. Accidentally created a new comment instead of replying to yours :-) Posted 12 years ago
  2. As the koala lives almost entirely on eucalyptus leaves (and even not all kinds of eucalyptus) it suffers a lot of deforestation in general and forest fires (remember the huge fires around Melbourne in 2011) and in the more residential areas koalas are violated by dogs. Not formally endangered I think. Have a look at http://www.koala.net
(Line Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, the oldest Koala sanctuary and also where this picture was taken) or http://www.koalahospital.org.au/adopt-a-wild-koala

The koala is an arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia. It is the only extant representative of the family Phascolarctidae, and its closest living relatives are the wombats. The koala is found in coastal areas of the mainland's eastern and southern regions, inhabiting Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia.
