  1. My guide provided the identification for this - there's not a lot about it - but here you'll see the only specimen was from Colombia http://v3.boldsystems.org/index.php/Taxbrowser_Taxonpage?taxid=546589 Posted 5 years ago

  4. There are several species of Calliandra in India. We grew up playing under the shade of these beautiful trees called Powder Puff trees because of the beautiful flowers. They seem to be common in parts of South America, Madagascar, Mexico. I believe they are indigenous to India but this needs confirmation. Posted 5 years ago, modified 5 years ago

Hi Leuba, This is the information I have which says there are 132 species with Brazil as a centre of diversity but including India & Madagascar http://www.nzdl.org/gsdlmod?e=d-00000-00---off-0hdl--00-0----0-10-0---0---0direct-10---4-------0-1l--11-en-50---20-about---00-0-1-00-0--4----0-0-11-10-0utfZz-8-00&cl=CL1.9&d=HASH015020157eaab7cda134caa8.5.1&gt=1 Posted 5 years ago
      1. Thanks NattyOne- that's very informative. So there are just two species from India. I am not surprised there are so many in South America, they have some lovely trees. Posted 5 years ago
