Purple Pitcher flowers
Sarracenia purpurea ranges from eastern North America, from the Gulf Coast of the Florida panhandle to Nova Scotia and across Canada to the base of the Rocky Mountains. It occurs in sphagnum bogs.
These carnivorous plants begin flowering in mid-spring, producing a solitary flower at the top of a scape 20 – 40 cm tall. The flower resembles a thick, flat disc ringed with dark, maroon sepals.

"Sarracenia purpurea", commonly known as the purple pitcher plant, northern pitcher plant, turtle socks, or side-saddle flower, is a carnivorous plant in the family Sarraceniaceae.
