Boophis opisthodon? Palmarium, Madagascar Inside the dense forest of the Palmarium reserve, I was checking the tops of some low trees as each had collected piles of leafs. At this tree, I felt straight into this buffed toad. It seemed to be sleeping here and didn't flee when discovered. After a few shots we put the leafs back in place.

My guess is Boophis opisthodon, awaiting confirmation by an expert.
1. That looks like a reasonable ID. I don't see anything to rule it out, and several details to support it. But I'm not confident because there are so many roughly similar-looking frogs in Madagascar. I'll bet Mark Scherz could tell you from this photo though. Posted 5 years ago
    1. Thanks for chipping in, John! I did ask Mark as well, but I think he's a little busy...getting married. I also have this one pending, wonder what you think about it:

Gephyromantis sp. - crop, Palmarium, Madagascar Found on the forest floor, by day. Very tiny frog, unsure if a juvenile. I estimate it at about 1-1.5cm. Besides banded patterns on all legs, another characteristic is the round nose.
