
Milkcap - Lactarius quietus var. incanus
Cap: Flat; zones of color (darker brownish in the middle and lighter tan near margin)
Gills: White; close/crowded; short gills present; attached; leaked pale yellow milk
Stipe: Mostly equal, but tapered a bit near apex; orangish tan; white basal mycelium
Habitat: Mixed forested wetland; growing under oak and pine

"Lactarius quietus" is a mushroom of the genus "Lactarius". It is easily identified by its oily scent and the concentric bands on its cap. It is brown, and is probably named after its matt, "quiet" surface and colouration.
