Macrolepiota procera is a basidiomycete fungus with a large, prominent fruiting body resembling a parasol. It is a fairly common species on well-drained soils. It is found solitary or in groups and fairy rings in pastures and occasionally in woodland. Globally, it is widespread in temperate regions.

I feel like the mushroom really 'pops out' of the picture. But I did not expect that from a compact camera. Normally you need some large diaphragma for that.

If this was a mirror camera the aperture would need to be much smaller, more like f/8 or f/11. Posted 12 years ago
