  1. I think I know this site. Twice in Colombia on our last day there, we were offered to go there, and in both cases we declined. First, because our travels the weeks before were brutal, second because Bogota traffic would make it too risky. Looks like we missed an opportunity but glad that you took it! Posted 5 years ago
    1. That would be it - about 2 hrs spent there & about 2hrs to get there - can be done in a morning - Not too far from the old centre of the city & with an early start, It was great - we combined it with a trip to the Paramo (a night away from the city). Victoria Lizarralde has a wonderful set up Posted 5 years ago
      1. Yeah, so instead we declined and went for pancake breakfast in the city. 2km trip. Taking 2 hours. I hate Bogota with a passion.

Glad you took the trip and got some well earned sights and species intros :)

        1. We found that you could cross the city in an hour or so, at the right time or after midnight - The traffic was serious Posted 5 years ago
  2. Hmm I'm pretty sure this is the other puffleg that occurs at the observatory - i.e. Coppery-bellied Puffleg
    Eriocnemis cupreoventris

  3. Hi Thibaud, thanks for your comment and insight, I think from my notes that we did see both species whilst there. I see the coppery on the belly but I based my identification on seeing blue under the throat. All I've read suggests that the Coppery-bellied has a green throat. I'd be very happy to change the identification if you're confident that it is Eriocnemis cupreoventris. Cheers, thanks, David Posted 7 months ago
