  1. Identify Species wanted this to be Scarlet Flycatcher but this is Pyrocephalus obscurus, whereas the Scarlet is Pyrocephalus rubinus Posted 5 years ago
    1. Thanks for reporting. This usually happens when the common name is ambiguous, meaning it can refer to multiple species. Safest way is to always search for the binomial name, it creates less problems. Posted 5 years ago

The vermilion flycatcher or common vermilion flycatcher is a small passerine bird in the Tyrannidae, or tyrant flycatcher family. Most flycatchers are rather drab, but the vermilion flycatcher is a striking exception. It is a favorite with birders, but is not generally kept in aviculture, as the males tend to lose their vermilion coloration when in captivity.
