
Verdigris Navels (Arrhenia chlorocyanea)
These tiny beauties were such a welcome surprise on a gloomy day! They looked very black in color until exposed to my headlamp or flash! The deep teal is so cool! They were growing amongst lichens and moss near an exposed, rocky area by a dam/reservoir. December 27, 2019. Murray County, GA, US.

''Arrhenia chlorocyanea'', commonly known as the verdigris navel, is a species of agaric fungus in the family Hygrophoraceae. Originally named as a species of ''Agaricus'' in 1885, and later classified as a member of ''Omphalina'', the species was transferred to the genus ''Arrhenia'' in 2002. It is found in Europe and North America.
